Waiting for the School Bus

Dylan and I get to the courthouse early every morning, and he rides the bus to school. I took these pictures this morning, and I thought they were cute.

My 5 year old son Dylan loves bugs. He is always picking up bugs and playing with them. I know "gross", but he IS ALL BOY! We are always telling him not to pick up bugs because one day you are going to pick up one that will bite you. As you know, most of the time children don't listen the first time or ever till one day it happens. Yesterday, it didn't actually happen, but sooo close. I got the scare of my life and in return so did my son. We were at my mothers, Dylan and Caleb were in the backyard playing golf, or so I thought. Dylan brings a cricket and a rollie pollie to the steps, and for the gazillionth time mommy says, "Dylan one day you are going to pick up a bug and it is going to bite you." He puts them down and goes to the backyard to play golf because I am sure he understood me, and would never pick up a bug again. Yeah Right! Ten minutes later Dylan comes back around to the porch steps and says, "Nana, you don't want to ever ever look in the bucket on the backporch, because whats in there is bad bad." My mom ask him what was in there that was so bad, and Dylan doesn't respond simply moves his hands in a slithering snake motion. My mom and I look at each other and go get the men. Around to the backyard we go. Me, praying the whole time, please don't let it be a snake, surely not, a worm or something? Papaw Rick takes the lid off of the coffee can, and to my surprise and total guilt, dumps out not just a snake but one of the most deadly snakes in Arkansas, a copperhead. That's right a baby copperhead. Everyone stares at Dylan, and he responds with, "I was just catching it so it wouln't bite anyone." Papaw says nice idea, but next time get an adult to get the snake. Eric kills the snake, we lecture Dylan and Caleb about how dangerous snakes are and always call an adult take care of the snake, and then we go home. What an afternoon, one I will DEFINATELY not EVER forget.

I have been so busy the past week that I haven't posted in a while, but I did want to let everyone know we had a great Easter. The kids had a blast. We got up Sunday and went to Church, the service was wonderful. Then, we went to Eric's mothers for lunch, and of course to hunt eggs. This is my family in their Easter clothes. The lighting is not very good, I just got the camera. I guess I need lessons.

More pictures on Easter on Flikr.
